FDOT webinar open to public Wednesday in Lecanto
The Citrus County Commission will host a Webinar for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) at 2 p.m. on March 10 in Room 166 at the Lecanto Government Building to help educate residents on the 2060 Florida Transportation Plan (FTP).
FDOT officials say the transportation plan is of major importance because it serves as the guiding transportation policy document for the entire state.
County warns residents about water-testing marketing scams
After new complaints, the Citrus County Utilities Division is once again warning homeowners to protect themselves against unscrupulous companies who claim residents’ water is contaminated.
As was reported last summer, there are at least two companies issuing postcards in Citrus saying the company tried to contact residents, telling them they need to have their water tested within 72 hours.
Springs Awareness Week set for March 14-20
The Southwest Florida Water Management District, together with Citrus and Marion counties and the cities of Crystal River and Dunnellon, will proclaim March 14-20 as Springs Awareness Week.
CCSO recovers diver's body near Chazzahowitzka
Members of the Citrus County Sheriff's Office dive team have recovered the body of a 21-year-old Vero Beach man near Chassahowtzka.
The man, Joseph Michael Kelly, was diving with two friends on Saturday in an underwater cave near the Chassahowitzka River Campground at 8600 W. Miss Maggie Drive, when he failed to surface.

Florida Supreme Court stays man's execution over IQ test
TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the execution of a Death Row inmate so a hearing can be held to determine the validity of a new standardized IQ test that could spare his life by showing he's mentally retarded.
The justices issued the 5-2 decision just hours after hearing oral argument.
