The Citrus County Sheriff's Office reports that a robbery attempt was reported outside of Flowers By Barbara just before 5:20 p.m. Thursday evening in Floral City.
When deputies responded to 7805 S. Florida Aven., they found a distraught female employee who said that two armed men had approached her on foot outside the shop and demanded all of her money. They attempted to take her to the ground, but she was able to fend them off. The victim reported no injuries.
After telling the two suspects she had no money on her, the pair headed off toward the Withlacoochee State Trail, empty-handed and in an unknown direction. If a vehicle was somehow involved, no one saw it.
Witnesses described one suspect as a black male and the other as white, possibly Hispanic. They both were in their early to mid-20s, around 5 feet 7 inches tall with thin builds, and wore dark-colored hoodies.
The Sheriff’s Office helicopter, K-9 units and patrol deputies were dispatched to search for the two men, but neither one was located. A CodeRED alert also went out to surrounding households, yet the suspects remain at large.
If anyone has information about this crime or the identities of the two suspects, please call Det. Chris Ball at (352) 249-2731. Or contact Crime Stoppers of Citrus County, Inc., by texting CITRUS plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES), clicking on www.crimestopperscitrus.com or calling 1-888-ANY-TIPS toll-free. Tipsters may remain completely anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
