Association to honor Cautero as Planner of Year

Vince Cautero, Citrus County’s new director of Development Services, will be honored on Dec. 2 in Fort Myers as Planner of the Year.

Cautero will be recognized during the American Planning Association banquet for his work in a six-county section of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (the Promised Lands Chapter in Southwest Florida).

Cautero just returned to Citrus County from Hendry County this fall, where he had been the Planning and Development Director. From 1990-95, Cautero had served in Citrus County as its Development Services director before going to Collier County in Southwest Florida, where resigned from his post following controversy over a golf course.

The award is based on about half a dozen criteria relevant to planning events and projects during the first 10 months of the year. The American Planning Association is the lead organization in the United States for urban planners.
