County beach closed to swimming by health department...

The Citrus County Parks and Recreation Division closed Ft. Island Gulf Beach Park to swimming Friday after the Citrus County Environmental Health Department issued an advisory for the beach, warning of high bacterial counts in water samples.

The samples showed fecal coliform bacteria counts were over the state standard.

Property appraiser provides the numbers that drive county budget...

Citrus County Property Appraiser Geoff Green says the preliminary estimates of taxable value were provided to the Citrus County taxing authorities on July 1, as prescribed by law.

At the same time, as part of the certification of the preliminary tax roll process, this tax roll is submitted to the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) for its review and approval.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District invites the public to a meeting to gather input on the land use and management plans for the District’s Potts Preserve and Flying Eagle Preserve in Citrus County.

The Citrus County Planning and Development Review Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 3, at the Lecanto Government Building was canceled due to lack of applications.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, at 9 a.m. in Room 166 at the Lecanto Government Center. For information, call 527-5241.

Bright House retunes government TV channel for cable customers...

Bright House Networks has notified Citrus County that as of June 14 it will change the frequency it uses to deliver county government channel 622, which carries the county commission meetings.

That means some viewers – those who don’t have converter boxes from Bright House -- may lose the channel.
