LECANTO - College of Central Florida student publications and contributors garnered numerous awards at the recent Florida College System Activities Association Student Publications Division Awards Conference.

Citrus Campus students were recognized for their contributions to the student publication In the Write Mind, Volume 22.

Individual awards were presented to Babette Payne, third place for art; Chelsea E. Hunt, third place for photography; and Elizabeth Jennings, third place for fiction.
“Our publication In the Write Mind provides a forum for our Citrus students to showcase their literary and artistic talents,” said advisor Mike Temple. “Our local students have demonstrated that they are talented and can compete on a state level. We are proud of their accomplishments.”

The Ocala Campus literary and fine arts magazine Imprints earned first place for cover, third for general excellence, third for staff page, third for table of contents, and an honorable mention for editing, which was completed by editor E.A. Weatherly.

Imprints individual awards were presented to Allison Bezzy, Michelle Myers and Weatherly, first place for poetry; Jason Ketcham, first place for fiction; Michelle Myers, first place for nonfiction; Weatherly, individual award for excellence as 2011 Imprints student editor.

“I’m so proud of the students who worked for two semesters to construct another fine issue of Imprints,” said Dr. Cassandra Robison, Imprints advisor. E.A. (Allison) Weatherly served on both Imprints 2010 as assistant editor then led the Imprints 2011 staff as editor in chief.

She did a superb job of leadership and of following her aesthetic. We have some fine student writers and artists here at the College of Central Florida who have once again done us proud.”
