CHIEFLAND - Central Florida Community College has announced that Dr. Susan Chappell will serve as the interim director of the CFCC Levy Center in Chiefland.
Chappell retired from Florida State College at Jacksonville about 18 months ago, where she had most recently served as executive director of the FSCJ Foundation.
"It will be a privilege to serve Central Florida Community College and Levy County as the interim director," Chappell said. "I'm looking forward to meeting many new friends and helping the Levy Center move forward to its next level of greatness. We have a great team there; all are excited about the important roles they play and the enormous potential we have for service to the county."
Chappell also served as the interim president and executive dean at the Kent Campus of FSCJ, and as vice president of Student Affairs at South Arkansas Community College. She received her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Florida in 1995.
"We are pleased to have Dr. Chappell on board as interim director of the Levy Center," said Dr. Charles Dassance, CFCC president. "She brings a wealth of experience in the community college system, specifically in Florida."
CFCC will conduct a search for a permanent director in the spring. Previous director of the Levy Center, Dr. Rayanne Giddis, is serving in the newly created position of dean of Academic Foundations at the CFCC Ocala Campus.
