Our Citrus Clowns mission is to provide the public with smiles, laughter, merriment and good clean fun. This is foremost in the minds of all members of our volunteer group.
The world has changed and sadly not always for the better. In times past, prior to the days of ”political correctness”, you could expect HUGS FROM CLOWNS, you didn`t even need to ask. You may still receive CLOWN HUGS, but you now do need to tell the clowns that you`d like a HUG. You got that? This fact is true, want a HUG ? Tell a clown, we will oblige you with a big, gentle HUG. In Citrus Clowns basic training, this “HUG” situation is stressed. Also, the proper way to HUG is taught, with correct hands placement, so that no one can be offended. Clowns love to give HUGS, ours are “politically correct” .
The extreme summer heat prevents Citrus Clowns from clowning outside often, the makeup, costumes and wigs, are so hot that it can be dangerous for our members. However, we will be clowning for the daytime Crystal River Patriotic Events: Crystal River Merchants Association, Inc. Family Fun Day & Rotary Uncle Sam Scallop Jam in Crystal River on July 3, 2010 at Kings Bay Park . Hopefully, being by the water , it will be cool enough to “clown around”.
Come see us there, we`ll give you a HUG, if you want one ! Just tell us ,” I want a CLOWN HUG “.
