For the third year in a row, the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners fleet operation has been selected and recognized for maintaining one of the top 100 best government fleets in North America.
The county fleet has moved up to the No. 24 spot in the top 100 list in a three-year, steady climb toward the coveted top 20 in the nation.
This year the Citrus Office of Fleet and Transportation Management ranked 24th.. Last year the county was ranked 35th . County Fleet and Transportation Management Director Michael Webster’s goal is to break into that top 20.
The competition between municipal, county, law enforcement and other governmental fleets is sponsored by Government Fleet Magazine, and the 100 Best Fleets award program recognizes peak performing public sector fleet operations throughout North America.
The program also identifies and encourages ever-increasing levels of performance improvement within the fleet industry.
"It's an honor to receive national recognition three years in a row for being one of the top 100 government fleets in the nation,” Webster said. “Coming in at number twenty-four this year made it even better. The credit goes to the hard work and dedication of the staff here in the Fleet Management Section."
The city of Portland, Oregon, was picked as the number one fleet this year. Unpaid fleet professionals are used as judges and employ 12 business criteria in judging the applications from the government entities.
