A Citrus Springs woman is facing two counts of child abuse following the discovery of injuries to a 2-year-old female toddler.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Brandi L. Reinhart, 22, is under $10,000 bond in connection with the case.
Investigation showed the toddler had sustained two black eyes from injuries to the face and head, and bruises to her vaginal area, thought to have been caused by a kick. The arrest report says the injuries occurred during two separate incidents.
The toddler had been taken to a local emergency room for treatment, and had been brought there by a family friend, the arrest report says. The toddler had multiple bruises to her forehead, upper eyelids and cheeks. Reinhart has stayed at home while the toddler was taken to the hospital.
Reinhart told investigators the toddler had sustained the head injuries during a fall into an 18-inch soft-plastic, flexible sides pool. She later said they were caused by a slap to the toddler's head.
As for the toddler's vaginal bruising, Reinhart first told deputies she had not seen bruising during the toddler's bath time, but later said it had been the result of a kick after she became frustrated with the child's alleged unruly behavior while being dressed.
