Clowning Around - More great Fall FUN !

Citrus Clowns have been busy and having fun, as usual. It`s great to see our old friends and make new friends at events. What a blast we had for two days at the Inverness Cooter Festival. This event was a fund raiser for Citrus Clowns group. Since we are not funded , we need funds for group clowning expenses and supplies, which are used at events. Many thanks to those who donated !

Thanks to Clown Sunny, who supplied a tent for our group`s booth, where we clowned. This involved: balloons sculpturing by Dr. Yar (aka Ray Thompson) and Clown Hello (aka Betty Thompson )and her puppet Freddy Froggy , face painting by Jewels The Clown, (aka Mary K Hall ), and Lady Tramp Clown Martie (aka Martha Mayes) who strolled, entertaining the crowd and giving out stickers. Clown Sunny entertained with her puppet Little Sunny; ( She is aka Vicky Iozzia , the author of I`m Lu The Hippopotamus, a children`s book, which is available at Citrus Clowns booth at most festivals. )

The Veterans Fair, during Veterans Week, was our next event, we had a Citrus Clowns table display at the local Crystal River Mall. It is always an honor to serve our military and our veterans, who proudly have served our country and sacrificed so much in doing so. Clowning at this event was Dr. Yar and Jewels The Clown. We did balloons sculpturing, gave out American flags, lollipops , patriotic stickers and posed for photos , which especially thrilled the veterans , children and adults. The veterans LOVE CLOWNS ! Of course, Jewels was all decked out in a patriotic costume, to further the honors for veterans.

More activities honoring veterans was Citrus Clowns participation in the Veterans Day Parade . Oh ! How clowns love parades! Citrus Clowns gave out small American flags for the crowd to wave. We had a patriotic decorated convertible car, thanks to Clown Sunny, (aka Vicky Iozzia) who drove . Riding with her were: her puppet Big Sunny( the Sunnys dress alike ) and Clown Hello (aka Betty Thompson) and Dr. Yar (aka Ray Thompson), all were proudly waving American flags . Clown Hello was in a very patriotic costume and looked wonderful. Walking and dancing in the parade were: Bo the Hobo (aka Nelva Clemans) with her typical cute, hobo costume and with the addition of a patriotic jacket, Clown Sparklelet (aka Sandy Ferrell) wore a fantastic patriotic costume, as did Jewels The Clown (aka Mary K. Hall). (See Jewels photo taken by CitrusDaily.Com photographer:
http://citrusdaily.com/2009-veterans-day-parade-inverness-fl-nov-11-2009... , in the photo gallery Veterans Day Parade 2009 ). Those red, white and blue, full skirted costumes looked so beautiful when the clowns twirled around showing their fancy patriotic petticoats . We all waved American flags and “strutted our stuff”, as is usual in parades. Hundreds of photos of our clowns were taken by spectators along the parade route. It was a great parade ! It`s an especially good feeling to make so many people happy, as they wave, shout greetings and cheer Citrus Clowns on.

The Homosassa Art/Crafts/Seafood Festival was a great success for Citrus Clowns, we clowned for two days. What a fantastic crowd of people, as they love clowns, as well as seafood treats ! This is always a fun festival. On Saturday, Citrus Clowns working were: Bo the Hobo (aka Nelva Clemans) and Jewels The Clown (aka Mary K. Hall ) . This was Bo`s first festival, so she was overwhelmed by the folks wanting her to pose for photos with them. Jewels had told her what would happen, but she had to experience this for herself, needless to say, both clowns loved the attention and admiration of the crowd. This “love of clowns “carried over to Sunday`s working clowns: Dr. Yar (aka Ray Thompson), Jewels The Clown and Lady Tramp Clown Martie . At this huge festival, thousands of stickers were given away. Also, balloons animals were sculptured to the delight of the children and adults. Citrus Clowns love this festival and the beautiful artworks displayed there. Citrus Clowns appreciate and thank the Homosassa Civic Club for the donation for Citrus Clowns group and for the delicious lunches provided for us.

We are looking forward to the Christmas Parades ! There are three upcoming parades , the December blog will have a full report. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays To All !
