The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners will hold its first workshop on the administrator’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2010-11 on Wednesday in Inverness.
The workshop will be held in the commission chambers in the courthouse, and will begin at 9 a.m.
Administrator Brad Thorpe will present his budget. The board will review each section, and the constitutional
officers or their representatives will be present to discuss their section of the budget with the commission.
The proposed $214 million budget reflects no change in the current millage rate of 6.4967. It embodies an 11.2 percent decrease from last year’s budget due to falling tax revenues, most notably a second consecutive year of decreasing property values.
The city’s two-hour parking rules will be relaxed in the areas around the courthouse so residents can park and attend without getting tickets for parking past two hours.
The commission will hold formal public hearings in September to adopt the final tax rate and budget.
