Company requesting overlay with reduced setbacks for mine in Red Level

The Citrus County commission on Feb. 8 will hear a request from Attorney Clark Stillwell, representing Nature Coast Development, for a Planned Development Overlay for a limerock mine adjacent the Red Level Cemetery.

The proposed overlay to the Citrus County Land Development Code would adopt a master plan with reduced setbacks from residential property for a new 150 acre limerock mine within an existing extractive district near Crystal River.

The property is located off of West Lancelot Court and south of West Powerline Street. (A complete legal description of the property is on file with the Land Development Division).

The public hearing on the ordinance will be at 5:01 p.m. in the County Commission chambers at the Citrus County Courthouse. Interested parties may appear at the hearing and be heard regarding the proposed amendment.

A copy of the proposed ordinance and supporting materials are available for public inspection and copying between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Lecanto Government Building in the Department of Development Services. For more information, contact the Land Development Division at (352) 527-5239.
