Citrus County firefighters were called to a Sugarmill Woods home on Saturday to put out a fire that apparently began in a wall of the home.
Firefighters were dispatched at 2:50 p.m. to a multi-story duplex at 7 Moser Court North in Sugarmill Woods.
Upon arrival at 3:02 p.m., units found light smoke showing from the front door. Fire crews entered through the front door and located the source of the smoke, which was a fire inside the wall on the north side of the structure.
Crews inside used hand tools to open up the drywall and extinguish the fire. The homeowner's furniture and valuable items were salvaged in that area by quickly relocating them away from the fire area while simultaneously fighting the fire in the wall
The fire was out at 3:14 p.m. The power company disconnected the power to the home and the Florida State Fire Marshals Office was contacted for an investigation.
There were no injures, and damage to the home was estimated at $5,000.
