Fire destroys vacant Floral City mobile home

Citrus County firefighters were called out at 1:36 a.m. today to battle a fully involved fire in a vacant mobile home at 11650 S. Rural Terrace in Floral City.

No injuries were reported.

According to the Citrus Fire Rescue incident report, firefighters arived at 1:58 a.m. at the scene, where they found hte 2,000-square-foot doublewide manufactured home fully involved. The fire crew had a challenge maintaining adequate water supply because of the location in Suburban Acres, and Hernando County Fire Rescue added its tanker to assist.

The fire was under control at 3:05 a.m. The State Fire Marshals Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of this fire. The owner of the property is listed as Branch Banking and Trust Company.

The home was totally destroyed, and damage is listed at $122,310.
