A Beverly Hills resident received minor injuries on Saturday after a pot of overheated grease caught fire on a stove.
Citrus County firefighters were called to 2975 Goldenrod Drive at 2:36 p.m., and found light smoke coming from the front door of the residence.
The fire had been extinguished by the time firefighters had arrived, the fire report said. One of the home's residents had received minor injuries from the fire. Fire Rescue personnel rendered medical aid to the injured civilian until the arrival of Nature Coast EMS.
The injured person was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital by Nature Coast EMS.
The fire was determined to have started from a overheated pot of grease on the stove. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted due to the resident's injury.
Fire damage was confined to the stove and cabinet area, with smoke damage to the immediate kitchen area. Total damage is estimated at $1,200.
County residents are advised not to attempt to carry a burning pot of grease.
