HOMOSASSA - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who burst into a Homosassa home at 2:30 a.m. today and demanded a couple's money and drugs at gunpoint.
The robbery occurred at 5616 W. Keating Court, the home of Jarod Walton, 29.
Walton told Investigating deputies that he and his girlfriend, Meridith Martin were watching television when they heard someone knocking on the front door. Before they could open the door, a man barged into the room with a firearm in his hand. He ordered them to the floor and asked where the drugs were.
Both victims described him as a white male in his late 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a heavy build, blue eyes and no facial hair.
The couple said their first thought was that the suspect was a deputy sheriff, because he was wearing a black, long-sleeved T-shirt with “SHERIFF” on the front, black jeans and black tennis shoes.
When the man began yelling that he wanted the drugs and the money, they knew the robbery was for real, they told deputies.
Walton told the men there were pills in the kitchen, but that neither he nor Martin had any cash.
The man then went into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of about 200 roxicodone tablets. Before he fled out the front door, the man stopped to search Walton for any more drugs or any possible cash. The robber ended up exiting the house with only the pills.
According to the victims, the suspect left the scene in a mid-90s model black pickup truck with two bold red stripes along the sides of it.
No injuries were reported during the home invasion robbery.
A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for both the suspect and the vehicle.
