Donald Day Simmons
A Beverly Hills man was charged on Saturday with DUI following a three-car crash at U.S. 19 and Homosassa Trail.
Arrested was Donald Day Simmons, 51, of 55 S. Jackson St.
According to the arrest report, a FHP officer investigating the 10:29 p.m. accident reclassified the accident as a DUI investigation after smelling alcohol on Simmons' breath, and seeing that Simmons' eyes were bloodshot and was unsteady on his feet.
The officer administered several field sobriety tests, and determined Simmons had been driving under the influence. Simmons was arrested and transported to the Citrus County Jail by a CCSO deputy.
Simmons was charged with DUI, and DUI with damage to the property or person of another. Results of breathalyzer tests showed .279 and .275, the report says.
Bond was set at $1,000.
Other details of the crash were not included in the arrest report.
