In General Election voting on Tuesday, John J. "JJ" Kenney has been declared the winner for Citrus County Commissioner, District 2, and Rebecca Bays has captured the county commission seat for District 4.
District 2 includes Homosassa, and District 4 includes Floral City.
Kenney will replace outgoing commissioner Gary Bartell. Bartell, who ended his tenure as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, has served the public as the elected County Commissioner from District 2 since 1990 and has been an advocate for the citizens, property and business owners of Citrus County for the past 20 years.
Bays will replace outgoing commissioner John Thrumston, who took office in 2006. As a commissioner, he served as chair to the District 5 Medical Examiner Advisory Committee and chair of the Public Safety Coordinating Council. During 2009, he served as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. During July 2007–September 2010 Thrumston represented Citrus County as a member of the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA). He also sat on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for TBARTA.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Richard Nugent was the strong finisher, with 38,057 votes (67.5%) to challenger James Piccillo's 17,305 votes (32.4%).
In the governor's race, Rick Scott was the winner with 29,903 votes (54.3%) to Alex Sink's 21,585 votes (39.2%).
Pam Bondi took the Attorney General race, leading with 33,154 votes (60.6%) to 18,548 (33.9%) for Dan Gelber and 2,972 votes for Jim Lewis (5.43%).
