Tax Preparer course for Seniors at CFCC Ocala

OCALA - Pathways Life Services at Central Florida Community College will offer a Tax Preparer course in September for seniors 50 and older.

The course will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 2 through Nov. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The course fee is $199, and includes a textbook and workbook.

The hands-on course will teach the fundamentals of tax preparation and the latest tax law changes. Students will learn how to prepare individual income tax forms for themselves or for others. It will include training on computer tax programs and the Internal Revenue Service's e-file programs.

There are two exams, a midterm and a final. At the completion of the course students will receive a certificate of completion. The course is offered as part of the 50 Plus Initiative of CFCC, the American Association of Community Colleges and the Atlantic Philanthropies.
