K-9 Mito, who was stabbed with a long knife on March 23 in Crystal River, is now at home with his handler, Dep. Jim Davis.
According to Citrus County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Heather Yates, the police dog is "recovering nicely."
The suspect, Dominic Giacobbe, 26, was shot and killed by a CCSO deputy during the incident. Mito received a knife wound that was nearly fatal, coming within about one-half inch of his heart.
The K-9 was sent for care to a veterinarian at the Dunnellon Animal Hospital, where he was nursed back to health.
