The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners recently proclaimed May as Friends of the Library Month.
The aim of the proclamation is to show appreciation for the continuing crucial contributions the Friends groups have been making to the county library system.
Coming off another record-breaking book sale at the county auditorium last month, the Friends from various library branches noted - with a sign - that they have raised $473,182 for the libraries since 2001.
Grateful county commissioners John Thrumston, Joe Meek, Winn Webb, Gary Bartell, and Dennis Damato can just barely be seen behind the many Friends who showed up in their characteristic yellow Friends T-shirts. Friends President Lynne L. Boele holds the proclamation at front center.
