Terry Davis

Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives continue to follow up on leads regarding escaped inmate Terry Davis, who fled on Dec. 22 while in the custody of a CCSO detective.

Davis, who was in jail for multiple charges ranging from grand theft to fleeing and eluding a police officer, escaped near Allen's Bait & Seafood on Elkins Road in Inglis and jumped into the Withlacoochee River to avoid apprehension.

Since that time, there have been no confirmed sightings of Davis. An updated BOLO (be on lookout) has been issued. Davis has also been entered into the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) database and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as an escaped prisoner.

Davis, 47, is a white male with brownish-gray hair and blue eyes. He is 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs 155 pounds. At the time of his escape, he had four stitches on his right leg due to a previous injury.

The Sheriff's Office has launched its own investigation as to how the escape occurred. Standard operating procedures are being reviewed, and the detective involved has been placed on administrative leave.

Anyone with information regarding Davis's whereabouts should not approach him, but should call 911 immediately. Or contact Crime Stoppers of Citrus County via text, Web, or phone. Tips are completely anonymous. Text the word CITRUS plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES), submit an anonymous Web tip at www.crimestopperscitrus.com, or call 1-888-ANY-TIPS.
