Citrus County Parks & Recreation has a new low-impact stretching class which begins on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
The ongoing class will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Citrus Springs Community Center. The cost is $5 per class.
This low-impact class is easy and fun to do, and the benefits are tremendous. Stretching helps to make you more flexible and regular stretching will help your mobility and balance. This helps to slow down the onset of common degenerative conditions, such as osteoarthritis.
Stretching increases physical and mental relaxation and reduces the risk of joint sprain, muscle strain or back problems. Low-impact exercises can improve your health and fitness without harming weight-bearing joints. Research suggests that moderate intensity, low-impact activity is just as effective as high-impact activity in lowering the risk of heart disease.
Residents can join the class by registering online at: www.citruscountyfl.org (click on Parks & Recreation in the left hand column, then online registration from the choices on the left and complete the checkout process).
