Special to Citrus Daily

A 27-year-old quarter-horse mare was transferred to the Girl Scouts of Wildwood on Aug. 20 by Officer Terry Funderburk.

She and her 4-year-old stallion "son" were brought to animal services on July 1 after their family lost their farm and residence due to the economy.

The stallion was adopted and the mare was donated to the Girl Scouts to live a retired lifestyle at the 500-acre facility.
