The Citrus County Utilities Division, in conjunction with Marion Rock, Inc. will begin installation of a sewer main in early January in Homosassa to serve Riverview Mobile Home Park, Camp N’ Water RV Park and Leisure River Estates.
The roughly $200,000 project is privately funded through a development agreement with the parties, who will be served by county utilities, once the 4-inch force main is in service. The project will take two small package wastewater sewer plants offline.
Construction will take place during the day, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and county officials are advising residents and motorists driving through the areas that the narrow roadways in the areas will be more congested than normal. Motorists are being asked to drive slowly and be extra cautious in the area, which will have barriers, warning signs, equipment and construction workers in and around the roads during those hours.
About 7,000 feet of sewer line will be installed. Underground horizontal drilling will be used to minimize impact on the environment.
The project will begin on S. Sea Otter Path adjacent to Riverview Mobile Home park and proceed south to Priest Lane, then proceed east on Priest to Garcia Road, where it will go south to S. Mason Creek Road, and then northeast on Mason Creek behind the fire station to finish by tying into a line at Cherokee Way adjacent to the Homosassa Elementary School.
The project is scheduled to be substantially complete by June 4, 2010, though county officials expect it actually to be finished before that.
