A generous donation from the Suncoast Federal Credit Union has made it possible for two local Sea Cadets to attend boot camp.
On July 12, Juli Lewis, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, presented Ensign Todd Dunn, U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Manatee Division, with a check for $480 to sponsor two cadets for Recruit Training.
A total of seven cadets will be going to the Navy-style boot camp, hosted at the Youth Development Center in Groveland.
During the presentation, Lewis said, "Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union was proud to sponsor the program, and looks forward to continuing and growing the partnership with Manatee Division."
At the Sept. 13 drill, Juli Lewis will teach a personal finance class as part of Suncoast FCU's Youth Enrichment Program. She will cover financial topics targeted at youth about personal financial responsibility and savings.
The Manatee Division Sea Cadet Corps meets at the Coast Guard Station in Yankeetown on the second weekend of most months. For more information about the Sea Cadets program, go to the national website at www.seacadets.org.
