A man implicated in the July 15 robbery of Capital City Bank in Citrus Springs has been arrested in Marion County following the robbery there of a SunTrust bank.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday assisted Marion County in tracking down Todd Kobielus, 37, a Marion County resident. Marion County made the arrest, and Kobielus is now in the Marion County jail.

Kobielus was booked today in Marion County on six charges, some not related to the bank robbery: robbery with a firearm; resisting an officer without violence; dealing in stolen property; grand theft; burglary and possession of a controlled substance

In the July 15 robbery in Citrus Springs, three employees reportedly were in the bank at the time of the robbery, but no customers were in the bank. The suspect came in the lobby entrance door and exited the same way. He approached a teller and demanded cash. The suspect also displayed a firearm, saying he would use the weapon if he had to.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man placed the money in a small gray-colored, golf-type ditty bag. He then exited the building, ran across the parking lot and jumped over a chain-link fence into a heavily wooded area nearby.

Wet weather hindered a search of the woods by one of the agency’s K9 units; however, the dog followed a track at least for a short distance. It is unknown if a vehicle was involved in the robbery.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office will also be seeking charges against Kobielus, likely through a warrant, in connection with the Citrus Springs bank robbery. Kobelius may also be implicated in the July 29 robbery of a SunTrust Bank in Dunnellon, also in July.

His girlfriend, Becky Booth, 32, has not been arrested in connection with any of the robberies.

The investigation into the Citrus County bank robberies is still underway.
