An adult male and juvenile male were arrested on Thursday morning following a reported robbery/carjacking in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot on Highway 44 in Inverness.

Arrested were Kenneth L. Peoples, 26, of 3116 E. Buck Lane in Inverness, and a 15-year-old Deltona, Fla., youth.

According to the arrest report, an employee arriving for work at 5:45 a.m. was confronted by the pair as she sat in her car in the parking lot. One of the two began tapping on the driver's side window, and later the second suspect got in the passenger's side door. Both suspects were wearing masks. One of the two wore a beanie-style cap that he had pulled over his face that had eye holes cut out for his eyes.

The suspect who got into the car brandished a hand gun and told the employee to get out of the car. When she did, the first suspect told her to give him all of her money, which she did. He got into the vehicle with the second suspect and drove off in her car.

Citrus County deputies found the car abandoned at Peoples' address. When they asked a resident there if they knew anything about the car, the resident said no, but also said there were other residents inside their room. Those two residents were Peoples and the juvenile.

After being read his rights, People admitted to the robbery and carjacking, and showed deputies where the money was, in addition to the clothing worn in the incidents and other items taken out of the victim's car. Peoples also showed deputies two handgun-style BB guns, said to be used in the robbery and carjacking.

Both Peoples and the juvenile were arrested and taken to the county jail. Both were charged with carjacking with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.

Peoples' bond was set at $40,000 and bond for the juvenile was set at none.
