More Clowning Around - What fun we have ! No April fool !

Mix approximately 400 small children with their parents in Citrus Springs, add Citrus Clowns, add Easter baskets, and Easter Egg Hunts and what do you get? A happy, laughing bunch of people, that`s what. We all had great fun , and as usual, the children were adorable. This Citrus Springs Civic Association event was well planned and well attended, everything was free to the children. There was music and dancing, games, egg hunting by age groups, with all kinds of prizes for the egg hunts. Citrus Clowns clowned around with our usual antics, giving out stickers, many stuffed animals, Easter toys and keepsakes and balloon animals, also suitable items for very small babies. Events are always great fun with zany Citrus Clowns.

Clowning at this event were: Yar The Jester, our balloons artist, looking fine, as always, and in beautiful, colorful clown costumes with pretty Easter egg colors, were Clown “Miss Edith Spinster “, and Jewels The Clown, both were complete with all the cute, colorful clown accessories.” Miss Edith “ looked especially gorgeous, wearing those looooong eyelashes , her flawless makeup, with her beautiful pink bouffant wig. Of course, she always looks great, she takes much care in her makeup, clown costume and overall total clown appearance and it shows ! Besides that, she is a wonderful, hard working clown and enjoys her work immensely.

Another clowning event for the Citrus Springs Civic Association was their Family Fun Day, with approximately 800 people in attendance. There were many displays and interesting things for people of all ages, with an emphasis for children. Citrus Clowns gave many very large and small stuffed animals for the children.

Jewels The Clown, clowned alone for this event, in addition to the gift of the stuffed animals, giving out stickers and rings and did face & hand painting for the children. She stayed busy ! As usual, Jewels wore an outrageous costume. Her dress was red, blue, green and yellow, with a white background, patterned underblouse of the same colors, and red mesh tights , socks were yellow, with polka dots of multicolors and red clown shoes. Her tiny straw hat decorated with red and jeweled ornaments, perched on a bouffant, bright red , clown wig. Her red mesh gloves went well with her red beaded bag, with the big rhinestone pin. You`d have to see it to believe how elegantly “clownish” she really looked, with all that jewelry, which is her “trademark”.

Citrus Clowns thank Janet and the Citrus Springs Civic Association for the generous donations for Citrus Clowns, (payable to The Friends of NCVC, as per donation checks must be made out.)

The Earth Day Celebration was another good and fun Citrus Clowns event at the Crystal River Reserve State Park for The Friends of The Crystal River State Parks, Inc. What a wonderful way, with a beautiful location on the water, to celebrate Earth Day. Many earth related products and natural interests items were displayed and everyone was reminded in various ways to “Save Our Earth”. Live music continued throughout the several hours event. Clowns add their funny and funny looking presence to any celebration, this event was no exception.

Clowning for this event were : Jewels The Clown, in a vibrant, colorful costume of earth green, fuschia and pink, the green skirt had thousands of gold sequins, the fuschia blouse was finished with a multicolor sequined vest. The earthy feathered and floral sequined hat, topped a pink bouffant clown wig. She had a pink clown horn to go with her beaded bag of pink and fuschia, and fuschia mesh gloves and wore shocking pink and black stripped tights with pink shoes.
Of course, she wore scads of jewelry, as usual, being Jewels. Martie, the Lady Tramp Clown, was in her typical, colorful hobo attire. Jewels danced, gave out stickers and did Earth Day temporary hand tattoos for the children, while Martie gave out stickers and entertained on the boat, for the boat riding people. Good, clean fun was had by all, with Earth Day, being on the minds of everyone.

Although we have oodles of fun at events, we don`t neglect business and training, our Citrus Clowns group business meeting and training workshop were conducted 4/25/09. The Advanced Training Workshop for group members continuing education was Face & Hand Painting instruction, specialized for painting children, by talented local artist, Elizabeth Lubastyik ( aka Clown Sparkle ). Many thanks Elizabeth for your expertise and fun instructions ! Members attending were : Vicky Iozzia (aka Clown Sunny), Helen Russ (aka Clown Angel) Natalie Russ , Marge F. (aka Clown Sweet Peas), Ray Thompson (aka Yar The Jester) and Mary K. Hall(aka Jewels The Clown). Almost as much paint flowed, as did laughter, from our lively, fun loving group. We not only play well together, we work well, also. Business can definitely be pleasurable, clowns know how to mix those two things.
Vicky Iozzia took several group photos during the painting class, thank you Vicky !
