"I got the hongries for your love, and I'm waitin' in your welfare line." (Courtesy: Singer Buck Owens' song lyric) States, counties and cities are singing that ditty, or variant, while awaiting "their" shares of federal "stimulus" money - money which was, lest we forget, originally deposited in good faith by American taxpayers. Between the financial industry bailout (handout No. 1), and coming government "stimulus" (handout No. 2), our national debt will climb nearly a trillion dollars more. At some point, something's gotta give, and free lunches aren't. If you listen closely, you'll hear great-great grandchildren grumbling as the tax man knocks at the door - collecting for our debt.
