Larry Wayne Carroll Jr.
A Lakeland man has been charged with using the Internet to entice a 14-year-old Citrus County girl.
Arrested on Sept. 2 was Larry Wayne Carroll Jr., 35, of 3850 Serendae Lane in Lakeland.
The investigation began with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit. According to the CCSO, Carroll had met the Homosassa girl on MySpace, and began calling and sending her emails.
A female ICAC detective interviewed the girl, and from mid-June until Carroll was arrested in Polk County on a Citrus County warrant, she worked undercover. She conducted MySpace e-mails, cell phone texting and actual phone calls with Carroll, all of which are said to have become increasingly more sexually explicit.
Carroll is said to have talked about traveling to Citrus County to meet up with the girl, but that never materialized.
Carroll was booked on charges of seducing/soliciting/luring a child to commit a crime. His bond was set at $40,000.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is an active member of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
