
The county's new Public Safety Task Force assembled on Feb. 4, 2011 to look at a possible consolidation of law enforcement, fires services and emergency medical services under one Public Safety Department.
The Task Force was given in-depth descriptions of each service from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, the Board of County Commission's Fire Rescue Department, and Nature Coast EMS ambulance service.
The group will continue to meet to consider the idea and whether it would be advantageous for Citrus County. The task force is expected to deliver a recommendation to the county commission by early spring. (PHOTO: Jim Hunter)
