Registered sex offender charged with assaulting retarded girl

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday arrested a 45-old man and charged him molesting a 25-year-old mildly retarded Crystal River girl.
Arrested was Crystal River resident Jeffrey Lee Sturgis, a registered sex offender, according to the arrest report.
The arrest report says Stugis was seen by the the girl's brother with his pants down and on top of the girl, who was clothed. The mother questioned the girl, and the girl verified what had happened.
The girl also told CCSO investigators that this had happened three or four times in the past couple of years.
Under questioning after being read his rights, Sturgis admitted to what had happened, and that he knew the girl was mildly retarded. He also confirmed this incident had happened three times during the last couple of years.
Sturgis was arrested and taken to the county jail, where he was charged with lewd/lascivious molestation.
Bond was set at none.
