Robbery suspect holds up Inverness business

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who held up the Family Dollar Store in Inverness shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

No injuries were reported in the incident at 225 U.S. Highway 41 S. in the Citrus Plaza.

The store was getting ready to close when the robber entered the store and walked down one of the aisles, acccording to the clerks who worked there. He then returned to the register, demanded all the money from the drawer and threatened to shoot the clerks if he they didn’t.

The clerks told CCSO deputies that although they saw no weapon that the man held onto what appeared to be a weapon in his waistband while he was making the threats. The clerks said that once the man got the undisclosed amount of cash, he ran out the front doors, heading towards West Highland Boulevard.

The clerks described the robber as a white male in his late 30s, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red striped shirt, blue shorts and a blue hat. He appeared to have a scruffy beard.
