A Naval Sea Cadet has been honored as Cadet Of the Year in the Manatee division.
Cadet PO3 Ariana S. Pusey was recognized for outstanding service from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 of this year.
The citation notes that Cadet Pusey excelled in the normal path of advancement, and has distinguished herself by exceptional service to her unit and the local community. She also distinguished herself among Manatee Division Cadets, especially in the areas of community service, military bearing, advancement, leadership and academic achievement.
She participated in Color Guards, the Coast Guard Station Change of Command, stayed on station at STA Yankeetown for one week, going on cases, patrols and conducting Station work as a member of the crew. To help her shipmates that will follow her, she took notes and helped write points that can be used to pave the way for future cadet weeklong trainings on Station.
She instructs Martial Arts training for her shipmates, acts as First Squad leader and volunteers for extra duties when she can. PO3 Pusey has helped with fund-raising and community-awareness outreach events. She was previously selected as one of Manatee Division’s Cadets of the Quarter. Cadet PO3 has been selected as the Manatee Division Cadet of the Year and her motivation, commitment to excellence, and dedication to duty have brought credit upon herself and the Unit.
Cadet PO3 Ariana S. Pusey’s positive attitude and behavior are in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the Manatee Division.
