The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office today captured a man wanted in connection with a robbery at the Lowe’s and the death of a man, both in Inverness.
Apprehended was John William Campbell, 36, of Inverness.
Campbell was traveling north on U.S. 19 near the Hernando/Citrus county line. Following a high-speed chase with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, Campbell crashed into and damaged an unoccupied Citrus County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. Campbell is being treated at the scene and may be transported to a hospital.
At this time, the homicide victim’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin (who reside out of state).
