The Citrus County Sheriff's Office today arrested a 17-year-old Beverly Hills youth and charged him with attempted murder and burglary with battery.
It is unknown at this time if the youth will be charged as an adult, and Citrus Daily will withhold his name until that determination is made. The boy has since been transported to the Division of Juvenile Justice in Ocala.
The victim is a 17-year-old girl, who also lives in Beverly Hills.
According to the arrest report, the youth knocked on her door at 3 a.m. today, and she answered it. The girl said the boy told her, "You're either going to have sex with me or I am going to rape you." She told deputies she locked the door and ran to her room.
She told deputies she later heard gunshots, and the sound of the kitchen window breaking. She said the boy entered the home and came to her bedroom carrying a small knife, and then struck her twice in the face.
She said the boy then dragged her down the hall of her home by the hair. At one point, she said, he left for the kitchen and returned to her wih a larger knife and brandished a small firearm. She said he began to assault her, then pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger. But the gun did not go off, she said.
She told deputies the boy then stabbed her in the left shoulder area with the knife, and eventually left the home. She said the boy told her, "If you call the cops, I'll come back and kill you."
She told investigators the boy had a large laceration on the lower part of his left arm, and that he took a towel and covered the laceration before leaving her residence.
The boy was found by deputies in the vicinity a few hours later, and was taken into custody and advised of his rights. Under questioning, he told deputies he had gone to the girl's home, shot out the kitchen window and assaulted the girl.
Later taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital, the boy told deputies after being read his rights a second time that he had intended to kill her, but after assaulting her decided not to do that and left her home, he said.
The CCSO said the girl suffered no serious physical injuries.
