CRYSTAL RIVER - Citrus County Sheriff’s Office deputies are combing the streets in and around N.E. 11th Street for a 22-year-old violent sexual offender who apparently has absconded probation from the state of Illinois.
The Sheriff’s Office is looking at Daniel Ray Hills, Jr., in connection with at least two local grand theft auto charges, plus fleeing and eluding police as well.
Hills was last seen in a swampy area of Crystal River near N.E. 11th Street around 3 a.m. today. He was wearing a white tank top and either blue jeans or blue-jean shorts. No facial hair or visible tattoos were noted; however, the subject more than likely is muddy.
Ground units, K-9 teams and the agency’s helicopter have all been involved in the manhunt for the subject. A CodeRED BOLO (be on the lookout) message also was issued for the immediate neighborhood.
The two stolen vehicles have been recovered, so Hills is believed to be on foot.
Anyone who may have knowledge about Hills’s whereabouts is advised not to approach or confront him, but rather call 911 or (352) 726-1121 right away.
