No injuries were reported following an early Sunday morning fire in a Lecanto home.
Firefighters were called out at 3:58 a.m. to 355 S. Bauer Road and found smoke coming from all areas of the home.
The homeowner said that earlier in the evening she lost electrical power following heavy storms in the area. She said she went to a local convenience store to call the power company and charge her cellular telephone.
Approximately one hour later she returned to the residence and noticed an odor of smoke in the house. She called 9-1-1 while she safely removed her pets from the house.
The fire damage was contained to the ceiling and roof area. Several roof trusses and the roof immediately adjacent were consumed. Smoke caused moderate damage though out the residence.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $20,000 with approximately $10,000 to the contents. Damage from the fire, which was quickly brought under control, was reduced by firefighters' aggressive actions to keep the fire damages confined to the attic area of the home.
