A 2-year-old girl, who nearly drowned in the family's pool in Crystal River on Sunday, died this morning at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives are currently investigating the incident (which is routine in all unnatural death cases) and will turn their findings over to the State Attorney's Office for review upon completion.
CCSO dispatchers were called shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday about the incident at 8205 N. Lazy Trail in Crystal River.
Deputies arrived at the home, and immediately began CPR on the child until EMS arrived. The toddler was transported to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center, and on was airlifted on Sunday night to All Children's Hospital.
Family members were inside and outside the home when the child apparently climbed up and into the above-ground pool without being noticed.
