Two Hernando men suffered injuries early Monday morning from shotgun pellets, and two Inverness people face charges related to the attempted murder of those men.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, injured were Byron Simmons, 30, and Eddrick Richardson, 36. They suffered multiple shotgun pellets in the back, neck and buttocks area of their bodies.
Two people were arrested in connection with the shootings, Micah Joseph Lamb and Kimberly Anne Ericson, both 25, of 300 Wilda Ave. in Inverness. Lamb was charged with two counts of attempted murder, and Ericson was charged with principal to attempted murder.
The shooting occurred in Hernando at 2620 N. Calomonden Drive, where Lamb, Simmons and Richardson had gotten into an argument, after which Lamb left the residence. He is said to have come back to the side door of the victims' residence at about 3:50 a.m. with what appeared to be a shotgun with a pistol grip.
After an argument, one of the victims attempted to take the gun away from Lamb, but couldn't, and ran back into the house, closing the door behind him. The victims told deputies they heard a gunshot, and soon realized they had sustained injuries when the shotgun pellets penetrated the closed door.
Lamb was located at 3565 East Delight St., in Hernando, along with three other people, one of whom was his girlfriend, Ericson.
Ericson and another witness said that Lamb had gone to the victims' home to buy drugs, where he had $500 "stolen" from him, and that he had become agitated. Ericson said she told Lamb where a gun was hidden outside of the address and showed Lamb where it was. Deputies later found the weapon.
After being read his rights, Lamb told deputies he had gone to the victims' address and bought drugs earlier in the evening where, he said, about $500 was "taken" from him. He said he became agitated and went back to the house, where Ericson showed him where there was a hidden gun.
Lamb said he intended to rob the victims to get his $500 back. He said there was a physical confrontation with one of the victims and the victims went back into the house. Lamb said another person had run up to him, grabbed the gun and "shot the door."
After being charged with two felony counts of attempted murder, Lamb's bond was set at none.
As for the two men who were wounded, the Sheriff's Office said the men took themselves to a local hospital to have the shotgun pellets removed from their bodies.
Meanwhile, Ericson's bond for principal to murder, was also set at none.
