American Legion 4th District Vice Commander
The American Legion National Auxiliary President, Rita Navarrete, made a special visit on Dec. 16 to the American Legion 4th District's posts and units.
She came to American Legion Post/Unit 16 in Gainesville for a special luncheon in her honor, and every table was decorated in red, white and blue. Among the guests were members' of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155 of Crystal River.
Navarrete, a native of New Mexico, has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 40 years. She is a member of Otero-Garcia-Navarrete American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72 in New Mexico, which was named after her late father-in-law. After 37 years as a federal public servant, and many leadership positions on the local, state and national levels of The American Legion Auxiliary, she is serving as the president of the World’s Largest Women’s Patriotic Organization, with more than 900,000 members.
