Voters to decide political futures in Tuesday voting
vote-you-decide.jpg

Citrus County voters will have their say on Tuesday during the primary election for a variety of offices.

The mailbox war that candidates have been waging will finally end, as well - at least until the next round.

Candidates have been stuffing mailboxes vote locally and statewide with literature that declares how bad their opponents are, and how much better political office will be once they - not their opponents - get in office. Whether that is true or not will have to just be seen. In the final analysis, however, voters won't know how well a candidate will govern until they get into office.

So much mud has been thrown at candidates that voters have had, no doubt, some thrown onto their faces, as well.

Be all that as it may all residents are urged to get out and vote. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

In this election, the Democratic ballot will be populated with these choices:

  • U.S. Senator: Glennn A. Burkett; Maurice A. Ferre: Jeff Greene and Kendrick B. Meek
  • Governor & Lt. Governor: Brian P. Moore and Alex Sink
  • Attorney General: Dave Aronberg and Dan Gelber
  • State Representative, District 43: Ron Schultz and Jimmie T. Smith (Universal Primary Contest)
  • Circuit Judge, Circuit 5, Group 1: Denise Lyn and Robert W. Hodges
  • School Board, Member District 1: Thomas Kennedy and Lou Miele

The Republican ballot will be populated with these choices:

  • U.S. Senator: William Escoffery III; William Billy Krogut and Marco Rubio
  • U.S. Representative, District 5: Richard B. “Rich” Nugent and Jason Sager
  • Governor & Lt. Governor: Mike McCalister; Bill McCollum and Rick Scott
  • Attorney General: Holly Benson; Pam Bondi and Jeff Kottkamp
  • State Representative, District 43: Ron Schultz and Jimmie T. Smith (Universal Primary Contest)
  • County Commissioner District 2: Gary Bartell and John J “JJ” Kenney
  • County Commissioner District 4: Rebecca Bays, Donald P. Sterling and John Thrumston
  • Circuit Judge, Circuit 5, Group 1: Denise A. Dymond Lynn and Robert W. Hodges
  • School Board member, District 1: Thomas Kennedy and Lou Miele

The non-partisan ballot

  • State Representative, District 43: Ron Schultz and Jimmie T. Smith (Universal Primary Contest)
  • Circuit Judge, Circuit 5, Group 1: Denise A. Dymond Lyn and Robert W. Hodges
  • School Board Member, District 1: Thomas Kennedy and Lou Miele

Note that the race for State Representative, District 43 is on all three ballots because all candidates have the same party affiliation, and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election, an election in which all qualified electors may vote, regardless of party affiliation.
